Let's Go Around the World!!

Hello 6th Graders,

It's cold outside, so let's pack our bags...

Over the next several weeks, we will be planning an imaginary journey around the world in technology class.

This project will help you learn about using Noodletools to organize research and cite web-based resources for a project. Of course, I'm hoping you will learn quite a bit about a few countries around the world as well.

First, if you do not have a Noodletools account set up, you will need to do so.

http://www.noodletools.com/

Then, you must decide which countries you would like to visit during your journey. I would like you to choose at least five destinations – from five different continents. It is not enough to say: I would like to visit Australia – you must also decide on a destination and an activity, say going to the Great Barrier Reef to snorkel, or going to the outback to visit kangaroos. I have listed a number of resources below to help with your planning. The first 4 sites will give you factual information about countries in general. The next several sites are tour operators that run tours for families around the world. If you have no idea where you might like to visit, you may want to start down there.

I have sent a Google Doc to you with a brainstorming plan.  YOU MUST CREATE A COPY OF IT! (Or you will all be working from the same document :)

Once you finish that, and I approve it, you will begin your country research using Noodletools.

You will have to answer the following questions about EACH of your countries:

Information for notecards:
Country number 1

Which continent is it on?

What is the capital city?

What language is spoken in this country?

What currency (or type of money) is used here?

What is the weather in your country?

What is the population of this country?

What are the major religions about this country?

Name two interesting facts about your country:

Name of the city or site you would like to visit in your country, and why:

In the folder in your network drive, please save three photos of your country, and a picture of the national flag.

Your will also fill out a worksheet for two of your sources, noting why they are reliable.

The final piece of the project will be a Prezi presentation that outlines your journey – and the highlights of your research - for your classmates.

This will likely take the rest of the quarter... but let's have a wonderful journey!

Mrs. Morell

Creature Praise

Large creatures, small creatures
Short and tall creatures
Come now and praise the Lord
Young creatures, old creatures
Hot and cold creatures
Come now and praise the Lord

Sing praise to the Father
Sing praise to the Son
Sing praise to the Spirit who makes all creatures one
Sing praise to the goodness of what the Lord has done
Let all creatures praise the Lord

Long creatures, high creatures
Flying in the sky creatures
Come now and praise the Lord
White creatures, brown creatures
All around the world creatures
Come now and praise the Lord

Sing praise to the Father
Sing praise to the Son
Sing praise to the Spirit who makes all creatures one
Sing praise to the goodness of what the Lord has done
Let all creatures praise the Lord

Day creatures, night creatures
Left and right creatures
Come now and praise the Lord
Near creatures, far creatures
Anywhere you are creatures
Come now and praise the Lord

Sing praise to the Father
Sing praise to the Son
Sing praise to the Spirit who makes all creatures one
Sing praise to the goodness of what the Lord has done
Let all creatures praise
Let all creatures praise
Let all creatures praise the Lord

Or

Deep Within

Deep within, I will plant my law, not on stone, but in your heart.
Follow me; I will bring you back. You will be my own, and I will be your God.

Deep Within

I will give you a new heart, a new spirit within you, for I will be your strength.

Deep Within

See my face, and see your God, for I will be your hope.

Deep Within

Return to me, with all your heart, and I will bring you back.
