Hello 6th Graders,
Now that we have finally finished Scantron testing, let's pack our bags...
Over the next few weeks, we will be planning an imaginary journey around the world in technology class. This project will help you learn about identifying dependable web-based resources and citing web resources for a project. Of course, I'm hoping you will learn quite a bit about a few countries around the world as well.
First, you must decide which countries you would like to visit during your journey. I would like you to choose at least five destinations – from five different continents. It is not enough to say: I would like to visit Australia – you must also decide on a destination and an activity, say going to the Great Barrier Reef to snorkel, or going to the outback to visit kangaroos. I have listed a number of resources below to help with your planning. The first 6 sites will give you factual information about countries in general. The next several sites are tour operators that run tours for families around the world. If you have no idea where you might like to visit, you may want to start down there.
You will find a worksheet in your network folder to fill out with your plan.
Once you finish that, and I approve it, you will begin your country research.
You will be required to keep track of all your sources, so that you can cite them using Noodlebib.
Your will also fill out a worksheet for two of your sources, noting why they are reliable.
The final piece of the project will be a Power Point presentation that outlines your journey – and the highlights of your research - for your classmates.
Have a wonderful journey!
Mrs. Morell
